The CAIN Genealogy
Of South Carolina and Jefferson County, Georgia
Surname Meaning: Mac Cathin means Son of the Warrior
Surname Origin: Celtic Ireland
Alternate Spellings: McCaine, McCane, McKane, Caine, Cane, O'Kane, Kane
The Coat Of Arms above is courtesy of Araltas.Com and is their intrepretation.
The Cain's of South Carolina then Jefferson County, Georgia are directly related to my husband, Steven "Steve" Hudson. His 2nd great-grandmother was Sarah Ann Cain, daughter of James Cain and 1st wife Nancy Granberry. Sarah Ann Cain was the first wife of George Franklin Hudson. She is buried next to her husband George and her beloved brother, the Rev. Moses Powell Cain in Jefferson County, Georgia.
The list of Cain's I have below is just a partial list. This family is absolutely huge, just like the Hudson clan. We are still learning a great deal about these wonderfully fascinating people! Also, this page may not be as up-to-date as our Worldconnect at Rootsweb info (ID "redbirdacres"). I would advise going there for more names and current data.
